With the Breddenberg wind farm, EEF sets a strong signal for Energy transition 2.0. The project makes a significant contribution to sustainable and regional energy supply while also strengthening the development of renewable energies locally. By utilizing existing wind potentials, climate-friendly electricity is generated, enhancing regional value creation. As part of the EEF portfolio, the Breddenberg wind farm helps actively shape tomorrow's energy supply. Sustainable, efficient, and in harmony with humanity and nature.

6 Wind turbines (WTs) are being installed in Breddenberg.
40.8 MW Total capacity handled by the Breddenberg wind park.
32,286 Breddenberg supplies an average of 32,286 households annually.
85.654 Tons of CO₂ are saved annually on average.

Our Approach: Energy transition 2.0

EEF stands for Energy transition 2.0 – a new generation of sustainable energy projects. Our solutions go beyond mere electricity production: they are decentralized, locally effective, and digitally interconnected. This way, we create real added value – ecologically, economically, and socially.

Breddenberg becomes the future

With the Breddenberg wind farm, we are putting our understanding of Energy transition 2.0 into practice. This project demonstrates how the expansion of renewable energy locally can make a concrete contribution to sustainable and future-proof energy supply. Through modern wind turbines, close cooperation with regional partners, and a long-term perspective, more than just an energy project is emerging in Breddenberg. It becomes an example of how tomorrow's energy supply is being shaped today. Transparently, responsibly, and together with the people in the region.

Show responsibility. Create value. Act together.

EEF develops projects like Breddenberg in close dialogue with the local people. Our aim is not only to generate clean electricity but also to create sustainable added value for the region.

The surrounding communities also benefit from this. As part of community participation under § 6 Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), municipalities within a 2.5-kilometer radius receive financial resources that can flow directly into local development. Additionally, residents have the opportunity to financially participate in the project according to the Lower Saxony law on the participation of citizens and municipalities in wind farms.

Furthermore, EEF is committed to strengthening regional structures. Whether through donations, sponsorship, or the promotion of local infrastructure, specific measures are developed and implemented together with the local people.

The protection of nature and biodiversity is also an integral part of the project. With targeted compensation and conservation measures, we create long-term ecological values and contribute to the preservation of valuable habitats.

Compensation and replacement measures

  • Planting of woody plants

As compensation for necessary removal of woody vegetation, new, site-adapted woody plants are planted. The selection of species is based on local conditions and promotes biological diversity in the long term. At the same time, the plantings enhance the landscape and stabilize the local climate.

  • Ecological enhancement of arable land

Extensive farming of arable land creates valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species. Reduced use of fertilizers and adapted land use promote biodiversity and improve soil quality, benefiting both nature and agriculture.

  • Habitats for wild birds

To support endangered bird species, suitable habitats are created and existing areas are ecologically enhanced. Additional structures provide retreat, breeding and feeding opportunities, thus improving the long-term living conditions of the species. In this way, biological diversity is sustainably strengthened.

Transparency

creates trust

EEF steht für einen offenen und partnerschaftlichen Projektansatz. Deshalb machen wir den Weg von der Planung bis zur Inbetriebnahme für alle sichtbar – klar strukturiert, nachvollziehbar und offen kommuniziert.

(Project) milestones

The project highlights

Project initiation

Completed

EEF joined the project as a partner on 01.01.2025.

Project takeover

Completed

With the acquisition of the project from WnE Planung GmbH in December 2025, the next important step for the development of the Breddenberg wind park was completed.

Approval under the Federal Immission Control Act

Completed

The approval under the Federal Immission Control Act was granted in March 2026, providing the foundation for the further implementation of the project. The positive decision confirms the project's compliance with legal requirements and enables the transition to the next project phase.

Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) subsidy

Completed

In June 2026, the project was awarded in the EEG tender, securing an important milestone for its economic realization.

To the press release

Construction start

In planning

With the planned start of construction, the implementation of the wind park on site begins.

Access roads and crane setup areas

In planning

At the start of construction, the necessary access roads and crane pads will be established. They form the basis for the transportation of large components and the secure construction of the wind turbines.

Foundation construction

In planning

With the construction of the foundations, the technical and structural basis for the wind turbines is created. They ensure that the later facilities stand securely and permanently even under high loads.

Facility construction

In planning

During the construction of the facilities, individual components of the wind turbines, such as the tower, nacelle, and rotor blades, are assembled into an operational unit.

Cable construction and grid connection

In planning

The construction of cable routes transports the electricity generated from the wind turbines to the grid connection points. There, the wind park is connected to the existing electrical grid infrastructure. With a successful grid connection, the electricity generated in the wind park can be fed into the public power grid and distributed to consumers.

Operational phase

In planning

With the commissioning, the long-term operational phase of the Breddenberg wind park begins. The six wind turbines will then generate climate-friendly electricity and make a significant contribution to the regional and national energy transition.

Technologies that set standards

EEF focuses on technical excellence – today and tomorrow. When selecting our equipment, we consistently rely on the latest generations of leading manufacturers. The Breddenberg wind farm uses state-of-the-art turbines from the Nordex-Delta4000 series – powerful, efficient, and ideally suited to the site conditions.

Types of equipment used:

  • Nordex N175 6.8 MW at 179m NH

  • Maximum Energy Yield

Thanks to large rotor diameters and modern turbine design, the facilities generate high amounts of electricity even at medium wind speeds.

  • Intelligent Asset Management

Self-diagnosis systems detect maintenance needs early and increase availability – without unnecessary downtime.

  • Future-proof series quality

The Delta4000 series is proven, advanced, and modular – ideal for long-lasting operation and easy spare parts supply.

Beyond the operational period, EEF takes responsibility for the site. After the permanent cessation of wind energy use, the facilities will be completely dismantled and all sealed areas will be restored. This ensures that the used land can return to its original state in the long term. Dismantling is an integral part of the project planning and contributes to ensuring the sustainable use of land throughout the entire life cycle of the wind park.

Our Team: The Minds Behind the Project

Do you have questions? We have the answers.

After the lease period expires, the area can be restored to its original condition or the use can be extended, depending on the agreement.

There are various reasons why wind turbines may stand still even though the wind is blowing. Often, these are planned maintenance or routine checks that are necessary for the safe operation of the facilities. It may also be that the power grid is already adequately absorbing electricity and no additional input is necessary. Furthermore, modern wind turbines have mechanisms that automatically stop them when the wind speed is too high to prevent damage.
