Berlin October 1, 2024 - EEF announces the successful acquisition of the Wind Park Beckum, situated between Dortmund and Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia.

The wind park has a planned total capacity of 21.9 MW and consists of three Nordex N149 turbines with a hub height of 125.4 meters and one Nordex N133 turbine with a hub height of 110 meters. The project received the necessary approval in October 2023 according to the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG) and a Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) subsidy in March 2024.

After the transaction, EEF will take over all remaining development tasks and will bear full responsibility for the project implementation. To ensure a smooth and efficient handover, the already successful cooperation between BayWa r.e. and EEF will be supplemented and continued through a joint handover phase during the transaction.

Construction is planned to start immediately after the transaction is completed, with ground works set to begin in early November 2024. During the construction phase, EEF will work closely with local authorities and communities to ensure that the works are carried out in compliance with all environmental and safety standards. The completion and commissioning of the wind park are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 at the latest.

After commissioning, the Beckum wind park is expected to approximately 46,000 MWh per year in green energy, thus enabling EEF to supply approximately 15,000 households with renewable electricity annuallyFrom 2026 onwards, the wind park will thus make a significant contribution to achieving the climate targets in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as the Energy transition 2.0.

"The acquisition of Beckum Wind Park is a significant milestone for our company and underscores our deep commitment to the Energy transition 2.0," emphasizes Hajo Kallsen, Head of Investments. "With this project, we strengthen our position as a reliable player in the industry and are proud to be entering the construction and implementation phase with our own wind park in the first year after our company was founded. As a solidly financed organization with an experienced team, we are able to quickly take over projects like this in pragmatic and partnership-based negotiations and implement them professionally."
